A Baketasticly Festive Journey!

So if you have been following the bloggy blog, you already know my niece Alyssa …so she’s technically my cousin, but her dad is like my brother so I claim her as a niece, so

She is my co-baker in training, I realized this when she decorated the heck out of her Pool Party cupcakes for her birthday! So i decided any real excuse to bake/decorate cupcakes with her I would jump at…. Christmas? JUMP JUMP!

So last weekend, I made a little Baking To Go Magical Package and headed off to Alyssa’s for some Festive Fun.

I pre-baked some Vanilla Cupcakes (note the “well done” ones… still getting used to my super hot oven) and some tiny containers of festive sprinkles. I realized my Mom Instincts (no I’m not yet a Mom, but every chick has these Mom Instincts) told me to take SMALL amount of sprinkles so she could go to town.

Right away she was asking me “Can we start?!” and bouncing with excitement. So off we went… I had also collected some various picks from the local decorating place and proved to be easiest for her age. She started icing her first cupcake with such concentration but a smile on her face.

My mom and her step mom were looking through old family pictures as we were decorating…you know we had to show some great embarrassing pics of my cousin to his new wife I seriously decorated one maybe two cupcakes…I’m an only child but I know how to share! This was Alyssa’s fun time! She tried “an idea” for her first cuppie but it “didn’t work” so she just “made it another idea” which basically meant bombarding the cupcake with every type of sprinkles I brought! Ok that was my fault, I told her “we gotta use ALL these sprinkles!” It was my way of telling her not to be shy….

She had some great ideas… my absolute favorite one was her angel.

Gotta love the mind of a child.

We flew through all of the cupcakes, pretty fast. She made one for her daddy and one for her mommy and one of her Alisha. And she was very careful to place them all together in a row. She also made one for The Hubs (who couldn’t be there) and told me to bring it back to him (shes a sweetheart I know).

I loved decorating the cuppies, and looking at old pics with family. It is just one of the reasons this time of year is so amazing. The treats aren’t the only things that are sweet…I plan to make this a tradition from now on. So one day Alyssa can show MY kids how to decorate Christmas cuppies!
