Christmas Past...

Well, technically since Christmas has passed.. I can get away with that title.

Anywho… thought I’d post the cuppies I made for Christmas Eve!

Ok here is a short story (I know, with me they are never short!)… per usual the Hubs and I had an abundance of houses to visit for Christmas Eve. Like I’ve said before, we never complain in having TOO much family. BUT in the hustle and bustle (never thought I’d ever type that) of the holidays I realized I hadn’t done any solo Christmas baking, only the cuppies I made with Alyssa. So since I was fortunate enough to have all day Christmas Eve off, I decided there was no excuse but to get my bake on.  So I looked around the over stuffed cupboard that is currently being invaded my baking supplies (so bad in fact The Hubs bought me a separate cabinet for just my baking supplies for Christmas) and found lots of supplies for Christmasy fun.

I decided I would attempt some ideas I found at Cupcake Mecca….

So here is what I came up with….

Snow Covered Christmas Trees….

I had these ADORABLE light shaped sprinkles from last year that were perfect for this.  I used baby Snowflakes sprinkles for toppers…I decided for the Mad Hatter green rather than traditional green to add a touch of the whimsy! And since I live in Florida… I decided  the only way I’d see “snow” was in cupcakes. There is something about dusting powered sugar on Christmas desserts that makes me smile like an idiot.

Sweet Tip: A tea bag infuser (the one thats like a little cage for your bag) is a perfect way to sprinkle sugar on cupcakes w/ less mess!

I found these Snowman, with a vintage feel, at my local decorating store.  With white sanding sugar on white icing, it added a real wintery feel…then adding a bit of chopped candy canes to the bottom this quick and easy decorating look super cuuutee!

Wreaths…..

This was honestly a last minute decision… I had extra Mad Hatter green icing that I could NOT waste! SO I was thinking….and thinking… then POOF! Wreaths!

Very simple, using a wide blunt tip I just did a circle of dots. Then sprinkled with some Christmas nonpareils… added a red bow (kinda) and voila! Wreaths!!

Ok I lurve (not just love) this red sanding sugar that sparkles gold! How FAB is this stuff! I loved how great it made the white icing look… and I kinda coped out with this store bought snowflake pics but I was kinda rushing….

I also did some simpler cupcakes, that I did not take pictures of on their own.

By this time it was around 4:30….the kitchen looked like the Tasmanian Devil had ripped through it and I wasn’t looking too cute either and our first house to visit was at 7! Girls understand that is cutting it close in time preparation for a multiple family night! SO I did manage to get a shot of the whole group of cuppies!

18432_398412055651_506030651_10209038_4318637_nOverall we had an amazing Christmas filled with laughter, presents, love, and most importantly family.  I hope you all had a great holiday as well.  I am so very fortunate to have so many loved ones to be with on the holidays… even the completely insane ones.
